Power or Internet Outage

Power outages are common in our region during fall and winter months. Internet outages can also occur from time to time, even when power is not out. Schoolwork is impacted during power and internet outages. Using this plan, we will continue remote learning as much as possible during these unexpected events.

Here are expectations for educators and students in various scenarios. Student attendance will be determined based on evidence of participation in independent or offline learning activities.

What to Do for School During an Outage

We will mail an updated print version of the following Power/Internet Outage plan to Highline families enrolled in Highline Virtual Academy and Elementary Remote Programs in November 2021 in English and Spanish.

Offline Learning Activities for Power or Internet Outages

The following list of learning activities is provided to students and families in case of a power or internet outage. These PreK-12 activities are to be used when a power or internet outage interrupts a student’s ability to access their distance learning classroom or their course materials.
