Michael Sita
Michael Sita brings a rich background in military service and diverse professional experiences to his role. Having served eight years in the United States Navy, he retired as Chief Petty Officer in 2006 after being recalled for Operation Noble Eagle while teaching at Highline Public Schools. A veteran of Desert Storm, Michael's dedication to service extends beyond his military career.
He earned a BA in Communications from the University of Arizona and, following a move to Seattle in 1992, worked at United Parcel Service (UPS). During his eight years at UPS, he supervised employee training and export operations in the Northwest Region while simultaneously obtaining a Teaching Certificate from Seattle Pacific University.
Transitioning into education, Mr. Sita taught English Language Arts at Evergreen High School for four years. During this time, he served as the ASB Director and completed his administrative internship in 2006. Michael pursued further academic achievements, earning a Master's in Educational Leadership (M.Ed.) at Central Washington University. This paved the way for his role as the Principal of T.E.C. High School on the Evergreen Campus.
In 2010, Michael took on the position of Principal of Alternative Schools & Programs within Highline Public Schools. This role encompassed oversight of several schools of choice, college and community partnerships, and reengagement programs, offering diverse graduation pathways for students.
A resident of Burien for over 30 years, Michael and his wife, Rachael, have actively contributed to the community. They raised their two children through Highline Public Schools, witnessing the educational journey from kindergarten to high school graduation. Michael holds certificates for Professional Administrator, Principal, and Superintendent. While now completing his doctoral degree at Seattle Pacific University, he views his work as a lifelong commitment to serving and leading the families and students in our community.
In 2021, post-pandemic, Michael was appointed as the full-time principal of CHOICE Academy, a small, high-performing school of choice in Highline. Concurrently, he assumed administrative duties for Transitional Programs, RTP, and CBS, all situated on the Woodside Campus.
