Michael Sita
Michael Sita was active duty in the United States Navy for eight years. He ultimately retired from the Naval Reserve in 2006 as Chief Petty Officer. He is a veteran of Desert Storm and was recalled while teaching for Highline Public Schools for Operation Noble Eagle.
Michael Sita earned a BA in Communications from the University of Arizona. He moved to the Seattle area in 1992 to work for the United Parcel Service where he supervised employee training and export operations in the Northwest Region. Michael worked eight years for UPS while earning a Teaching Certificate from Seattle Pacific University.
Mr. Sita, then taught English Language Arts at Evergreen High School for 4 years. He was the ASB Director while completing his administrative internship in 2006. Michael completed his graduate work in Educational Leadership (M.Ed.) at Central Washington University before selection as Principal of T.E.C. High School on the Evergreen Campus.
In 2010 Michael was appointed Principal of Alternative Schools & Programs which includes New Start High School, CHOICE Academy, The Home School Center, and local college partnerships for high school completion. He has since led a variety of teams to establish a Learning Center, digital education, and credit recovery programs into Highline Public School's portfolio of various graduation pathways for students.
Michael and his wife, Rachael, have lived in Burien for more than 25 years. They raised two children through Highline Public Schools from kindergarten through high school graduation. Michael holds certificates for Professional Administrator, Principal, and Superintendent. He has completed his doctoral degree at Seattle Pacific University and sees his work as lifelong service and leadership to the families and students in our community.
